Broncos agree to trade QB Cutler to Chicago Bears

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Jay Cutler got his wish Thursday: a ticket out of Denver. And the Chicago Bears have a franchise quarterback for the first time in decades. The Broncos on Thursday traded their disgruntled Pro Bowl passer to the Bears, who've gone through a bevy of quarterbacks without much success ever since Jim McMahon was calling plays in the 1980s.

The Broncos get quarterback Kyle Orton in return, along with two first-round draft picks and a third-rounder.

The Broncos get the Bears' top pick in this year's draft, which is No. 18 overall, and Chicago's first-round draft pick in 2010, along with a third-round selection this year (No. 84 overall). Denver also gave up a fifth-rounder this year.

Calls to Cutler's agent, Bus Cook, went unanswered. His office in Hattiesberg, Miss., was closed because of bad weather and his home phone had a message asking callers to call back later. An e-mail sent by The Associated Press wasn't returned.

Cutler asked for a trade last month after his relationship with Josh McDaniels soured when the new 32-year-old coach talked to other teams about trading him. Cutler and his agent didn't think McDaniels was upfront with them about the trade talks.

Two meetings designed to clear the air only raised Cutler's level of distrust. Still, McDaniels insisted over and over that Cutler was his guy and he said at last week's NFL owners meetings that he would do everything he could to repair their relationship.

India chase history, Kiwis seek to save series

WELLINGTON: With an unassailable lead in hand, India only have to guard against complacency and the notoriously seaming track of the Basin Reserve to notch their first Test win here in 34 years when they take on New Zealand in the third and final match of the series on Friday.

Having won Tests at Adelaide, Perth, Trinidad, The Oval, Multan, Galle, Johannesburg and Hamilton, they are now faced with their biggest challenge of scoring a win at a venue where their last triumph came in 1975.

Having established a 1-0 lead at Seddon Park, they need to only draw the third and final Test here to achieve a historic series triumph, last accomplished by Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi's team in 1967-68. (AP Photo)

IPL moved out of India, probable venues England or South Africa

The Indian Premier League (IPL) moves out of India after its schedule clashes with that of the polls. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sources have told TIMES NOW that the tournament will under all probability be held in England, and that the other likely venue is South Africa.

The new host country of the Indian Premier League and the schedule of its 59 Twenty20 matches
will be out by Monday (March 23) evening, IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi said.

The decision to shift the Twenty20 tournament out of the country was taken at the BCCI's emergency Working Committee meeting on Sunday (March 22). The cash-rich event had run into rough weather because of security apprehensions.

BCCI after its meeting to resolve the IPL logjam said that they considered all aspects of staging IPL in India, but could not do so.

The league will be held either in South Africa or England after security apprehensions and owing to a clash of dates with the general elections, the organisers were forced to take the April 10-May 24 event out of India.

Lords and Oval are likely to be venues of the matches if England hosts the tournament. The BCCI said that the venues of the tournament would be announced in two or three days.

IPL T20 2009 in South Africa

IPL T20 2009 to be held in South Africa

Its official after a lot of speculation and drama. The second season of the high profile IPL Twenty 20 Cricket Tournament will take place in South Africa (SA). IPL Cheif Lalit Modi had talks with the South African Cricket Board and met the their Cheif Gerard Majola in Johannesburg - South Africa on Tuesday March 24, 2009. After a long meeting, Lalit Modi declared that the IPL 2009 will be hosted by South Africa.

The date structure has also been changed. The IPL tournament will now begin on the 17th of April instead of the 10th April as stated earlier. The South African Cricket Board has assured tight security for all the players during the entire tournament. Personally Gerard Majola has assured this in a statement as reported by agencies. South Africa authorities says there will be no trouble staging the League and has assured full security. Cricket South Africa, it is reported, has also offered full support to the IPL.

IPL committee earlier decided to host the second season of IPL out of India after failed talks with the Indian Government officials. The main reason being security to be provided by the State government during the matches as it was clashing with the Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier today Lalit Modi was quoted saying ""We will have to evaluate clearly and carefully before coming to a decision about the venue. We also need to take the weather pattern into consideration as well". He had also said earlier that presence of a large Asian community makes England an attractive venue for the Twenty20 event.

The IPL Twenty20 matches will be played at 6 venues in South Africa namely: Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Pretoria, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth. Among the important factors for the IPL to host this tournament in South Africa and not England was the weather conditions. There are over 70 per cent chances of rain interupting in England in April. However, in the month of May, the temperatures will dip drastically in South Africa, making it very uncomfortable for the players.
